Curing Tinnitus – The Great Debate  Tinnitus cures

There has been a great debate about curing tinnitus.  The word “cure” is used rather loosely, leading people to think things are cures when they are merely ways to alleviate the symptoms.  Alleviating symptoms is not the same as a tinnitus cure, which is why it is important for you to look at the options for curing tinnitus and see what actually a cure is and what is actually a band aid.

Masking Devices

Masking devices are the most commonly used treatments when it comes to a alleviating the symptoms of tinnitus, and they are also the most misunderstood.  There is a belief that masking devices will cure tinnitus, but that is simply not true.  What they do is mask some of the sounds of tinnitus.  They alleviate symptoms, but they do not act as a true tinnitus cure.

Instead of curing tinnitus, they work to make tinnitus bearable.  They do this by distracting the mind from the phantom noises.

Surgery

Surgery is also touted as a way to cure tinnitus.  Unfortunately, there are some problems with surgery that must be examined.

First, surgery is not always effective.  It depends on the type of tinnitus you have.  Pulsatile tinnitus responds the best to surgery, as often, there is tumor or structural reason for the tinnitus that can be fixed with surgery.

It is important to note that surgery can be damaging.  While it might help to get rid of the tinnitus, it almost always leads to a degree of hearing loss.  Thus, it is a trade off.  People might get help with their tinnitus, but they will also likely lose some of their hearing.

Medication

Some people think medications are useful as a tinnitus cure.  There are different medications people can take for tinnitus, and they think by taking the medications, they can actually end up curing their tinnitus.

The medications come in many different forms, but most often, depression or anti anxiety medication is used.  Again, this does not act as a cure.  It can alleviate symptoms, but there are side effects that come with the medication.  People that take the medication can experience fatigue, dependency, and sexual side effects, just to name a few.

Medication is not a long term solution due to the side effects, but it can help manage the symptoms for a short period of time.

Holistic Healing

It has been realized that the only true tinnitus cure is holistic healing.  With holistic healing, the entire body is treated.  By treating the entire body, the source of the tinnitus is treated.

People make the mistake of thinking that tinnitus is only an ear issue.  Thus, they treat the ear and leave the rest of the body alone.  This will help alleviate symptoms, but it will not get rid of them.  That is because tinnitus is much more than an issue with the ear.

It is a whole body issue, and it must be treated as such if it is going to be cured.  People have to use holistic healing to actually cure their tinnitus.

They need to learn stress management, eat a proper diet, exercise, and take in the right vitamins.  The right combinations of healing will actually get rid of the symptoms.

Forget everything you have learned about curing tinnitus in the past.  As you can see, most “cures” are nothing more than band aids.  Of all the theories of how to cure tinnitus by taking a holistic approach you can actually rid yourself of the tinnitus.
